One of the highlights of my Amsterdam trip! Jan was an incredibly funny and full of history and knowledge of Amsterdam. The morning cruise meant we had the canals to ourselves and were able to really enjoy the complimentary coffee and sweet bread on board. It’s a cozy ride — you’ll be sitting closely with other passengers — but that’s the joy of a canal boat!Would 100% recommend Captain Dave and really appreciated Jan’s humour and recommendations!

This cruise is the best choice if you would like to see the city from the water in a very special historic boat that seats a smaller group. Very comfortable seating great views, beer, wine, and snacks are provided. You feel special touring in this boat and not being in one of the bigger touristy cruises. The guide is very knowledgeable and you learn a lot about the history of Amsterdam.

Roman was great. Funny, friendly, and well informed. The boat was beautiful, well maintained, comfortable, and historic. We enjoyed the experience very much. The free drinks were an awesome addition. Onboard bathroom is very convenient as well. A premium experience.

The early morning 8am tour is exceptional. Max 12 people, 90 minutes, comfortable, safe, informative, competent, funny and passionate driver (Karim- spelling?). No one was out on the canal except us. Highly recommend. Great value for money.

Our young lady Captain did a great job. We especially appreciated the small boat and group size. The covered cabin with open bow and stern was great as we encountered occasional light rain. Other open boats looked miserable. Length of the tour was just right. Our captain having grown up in the area was very knowledgeable. Sugar bread and beverages were appreciated.

Jan and The James Bond were a great way to spend our afternoon today in Amsterdam. Jan had both historical and personal knowledge of the city that he brought to our time on the tour. Our group enjoyed the wine and Heineken beer and stayed hydrated as well. This canal cruise was more personal than the bigger boats. It cost slightly more than the 60 minute cruise options available for other companies, but it was worth the premium (especially since it was 90 minutes for our cruise).

Captain Jan's cruise and tour was the highlight of our trip to Amsterdam. His knowledge of the city and its history combined with his humour made for a simultaneously educational and hilarious (the perfect combo) experience. Additionally, Jan's list of recommendations was invaluable! It resulted in some incredible meals and experiences we would have otherwise missed.If you're going to do a canal cruise in Amsterdam, you absolutely have to book through captain Dave!

Relaxed, fun, and informative! The tour guide was engaging, and focused a lot on little-known facts and sites that he found especially interesting, which was a lot more interesting than a rote "hit the top spots" style tour.

Amazing experience for our first night in Amsterdam!Our captain Steijn was a legend! Super friendly and chill, gave us some boat driving lessons and info about Amsterdam.Great way to experience the beauty of the city and canals as the sun went down.Complimentary drinks and snacks were also a nice touch.

We went on the morning cruise which was delightful. The canals were so quiet and Gisela was a wonderful captain and tour guide. The coffee, tea, fresh orange juice and Dutch sweet bread was a nice touch. Highly recommend this tour. It is a small boat and there were only ten of us. Just perfect!

Our Morning Canal Cruise with Captain Dave was a wonderful introduction to Amsterdam on our first day. Dave wasn’t there but Jan was and his commentary was excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed learning more about the history of Amsterdam and appreciated his sense of humor. The canals and city were so peaceful in the morning we were really able to enjoy the city. I highly recommend this tour - you won’t be disappointed.

Really lovely smaller group boat tour. Being on a smaller boat gets you access to some of the quieter canals and a more personal experience. We had a great time and would recommend for anyone looking for a non “big boat” tour.

We had a fantastic time on our Amsterdam canal tour with Jaan (although we’d booked it as Captain Dave!). Jaan was incredibly knowledgeable and gave a really interesting insight into how Amsterdam was created and developed, while also happily answering questions about how the canals compare with those in the UK.His commentary was joyous, engaging and wonderfully personalised, which made the tour feel really special. The bar was also very well stocked, with some lovely drinks to enjoy along the way.A brilliant experience, suitable for all ages, and one we would highly recommend to anyone visiting Amsterdam!

Thanks to Gisela, this was the highlight of our four days in Amsterdam. Gisela hosted us in such a lovely, relaxed and informative manner, it was like we were cruising with an old friend. Such a fun boat tour! Excellently priced, and very casual. This kind of tour really allows you to see the canals of the city as a local. We booked the morning tour, which I’d highly recommend, as the canals were nearly empty. We were offered sugar bread, coffee, orange juice, and water, but the afternoon tours offer Heinekens.

Such a lovely canal tour! Our captain was fabulous. Shared wonderful stories and history. The boat was so cool and we loved that it was smaller. It made for such an enjoyable experience. Could not recommend this company more. You will not be disappointed! Take the early morning cruise. There were hardly any other boats on the canals yet.
